Cities Summit of the Americas: Interpretation Equipment
We provided all simultaneous interpretation equipment and technical services for the inaugural Cities Summit of the Americas: 16 full-size booths, 32 interpreters, 9 breakout sessions, and 3,000 participants.
The inaugural Cities Summit of the Americas, held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver in 2023, promoted regional cooperation by convening subnational leaders from across the entire Western Hemisphere, alongside diverse and inclusive representatives of government, civil society, business, academia, youth, culture and the arts, and Indigenous and underrepresented groups.
The Challenge
A hemisphere-wide summit means a hemisphere of languages. With 3,000 participants moving between plenary sessions and 9 breakout sessions across the convention center, every room needed its own interpretation setup, and every delegate needed to hear every session clearly in their language, from the first keynote to the last panel.
The Solution
Translation Excellence provided all of the simultaneous interpreting equipment and technical services for the summit, staffed by 32 simultaneous interpreters.
- 16 full-size interpreter booths installed across the plenary and breakout rooms, so interpreters worked in sound-isolated booths in every session.
- Interpretation systems and listener receivers set up for each room, with our own technicians running the audio throughout the event.
- 32 simultaneous interpreters working in booth teams, so every language stayed fresh and accurate across long sessions.
- One accountable team for equipment, technical support, and interpreters, so organizers had a single partner for every room.
