International Summit on the Teaching Profession: 9 Languages
We deployed 24 conference interpreters to deliver simultaneous interpretation in 9 languages for 350+ international delegates, coordinated with the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Secret Service.
The International Summit on the Teaching Profession brings education ministers, union leaders, and teachers from around the world together to compare what works in their classrooms. When the U.S. Department of Education sponsored the summit, every delegate had to follow every session in real time, in their own language, under the security of a high-visibility international event.
The Challenge
The Department needed simultaneous interpretation for a large, high-visibility international delegation: more than 350 delegates speaking 9 languages, in sessions where ministers negotiate policy and nuance matters. A U.S. Secret Service presence meant security requirements could change the schedule, the room, or the access plan at short notice, and the interpretation could not stop when they did.
The Solution
Translation Excellence deployed 24 qualified conference interpreters, working in teams in each language so that every session had fresh, accurate voices from the opening remarks to the final plenary, together with the conference-support resources that kept the program running.
- One accountable project team coordinated directly with the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Secret Service, and the venue and event organizers.
- Interpreter teams were matched to the subject matter of education policy and briefed on the program, speakers, and terminology before the summit.
- Security and logistical changes were absorbed in real time, with interpreters and support staff redeployed as rooms, times, and access requirements shifted.

The Results
Delegates received accurate, professional, real-time interpretation in every session, sustained despite frequent and complex logistical changes.
